FOURSTROKE CAR

Roumen Atonov 1930 design car.

The Four Stroke Roumen Antonov Car Een eigen ontwerp van Roumen Antonov. Een prachtig 1930 design, maar dan met moderne technologie. Er was maar één model van. De auto is nu (2005) in productie gegaan. De uitvoering is met een Smart motor en zal zo'n € 40.000,-- gaan kosten.

The Beginning.

Rumen car in production.
In 1998 his workshop moved to Le Mesnil-Amelot, near Paris - Charles de Gaulle airport. Here the project was continued. During that time Roumen created the company "Four Stroke" around his project. The mockup in 1:1 scale was ready just before the 2002 Paris Motorshow where it was shown to the public. The interest from the press and the public for the car was enormous.

Since 2002 the efforts around the project were mainly focussed in getting the good conditions together in order to continue the project: funding, a development team, production facilities and a sales network. Several entrepreneurs proposed to be inporter in the UK and in the USA and even proposed to take quite impressive numbers of cars. In 2004 several companies were prospected to do the development work (Antonov himself basically concentrates on the development of automatic transmissions) and a company near Paris was chosen to take on a part of the development.

During 2005 the design for series production has continued and is presented in its final shape on the Frankfurt Motorshow in September 2005. The car is equipped with modern technology but finds its inspiration in the designs and production philosophy of the cars of the nineteen thirties. The car has been named "Rumen".

The car was on shown at Frankurt IAA in September 2005.

April 2005
The First body that has been made with the final mould will be on display on the stand of Technical Studio during the Paris "salon du Coupé et Cabriolet". This exhibition will be held on April 15,16 and 17 at Parc des Expositions de la porte de Versailles in Paris.

March 2005
The final model has been machined and surface finished in order to make the moulds.

The vehicle is a very light car in the pre-1930s style with the objective of having personalized vehicles made to order.

This car which is based on modern technology will be available with 45kW and with 75kW front engine and rear wheel drive.

As it weighs less than 400 kg, its performance is attractive and its stability can be compared to that of the best sportscars currently available.

The car will offer a top quality finish and can be tailored to meet customer's requirements.

Currently we work to prepare the first small serial production for next year and we look forward to presenting our first production model on the Frankfurt Motor show in 2005.

We have started to work with a french company "Technical Studio" to realize the initial vehicles for testing and also will prepare the production ready vehicles with them.

We have a lot of interest from potential customers and are very happy with this. Our price will be established in relation to our clients' orders. We intend for many people to have a base price of 40.000 Euros.

We also plan to make our vehicle available to the markets of UK, USA and many other countries, both as a finished vehicle and as a kit-car.

This website will be updated and include progress reports on a regular basis.
Please visit www.4stroke-design.com to stay informed.

Rumen "Bugatti"

Based on a 1930 Bugatti design.
The Rumen is a car inspired from the classic cars of the thirties, both their style and their production philosophy. Each car will be produced to individual customer order and specification. The car is much more an object of art than a utility vehicle for daily transport.
The style may be 1930's but the technology is pure 21st century. The body is crafted from carbon fibre composite which provides an ultra light and rigid structure in conjunction with a tubular steel frame. The power unit is a high output 700cc in-line three cylinder turbocharged engine that meets Euro IV emissions. The power output can be chosen as 61, 75 or even 100 HP for the brave. The drive is via a 6 speed sequential gearbox to the rear wheels. In further contrast to its 1930's roots, the car is equipped with ABS, stability control and the leather lined interior is air conditioned as standard.

Four Stroke Design Rumen at Paris

After a development phase of four years, a production model of the Rumen car now exists. Some new elements have been added, like for example the fenders and the bumpers. The chassis has been newly developed and the power train, the suspension and all other systems have been placed in their final position. The most important new element of design is the open roof. In this way, the car now has been created with the possibility to transform the "Coupé" to an "Open Roof" version, by simply exchanging the original roof with the new "Sport’s capote". Both roofs are available with the standard car.

The Origin of the project
In the Thirties, cars have been produced more in an artisan than an industrial way, corresponding to the individual taste of its owner. Most of them were unique and personalised, comparable to Fashion Creations of the "Haute Couture". The first car sketches of Roumen Antonov, founder of the 4Stroke Company and car passionate from his childhood years on, have been made, based on this philosophy of unique creation. During the following years, he created numerous drawings and from his growing passion for the Automotive was born his dream to create once a car for his own pleasure and corresponding to his individual taste. Roumen Antonov worked in a passionate way and little by little on "his car", which achieved its definitive forms in 1991 via the production of a plaster model in "Real" size. At this time, the creation of the car was for him not yet a business opportunity, but the transformation of his dream into reality. In 2002 he decided to present a prototype of the car on the Paris Motor Show. Like an Artist who wishes to present his creation to the public, Roumen Antonov wanted the get the visitor’s point of view and feelings about his car. The feed back was tremendously positive and in this way Roumen Antonov decided to produce his car in a small serial production in order to share this and his "Automotive Dream" with others.

The Project
After the success during of the presentation on the Paris Motor Show in 2002, Roumen Antonov started the development of the car. His priority here was to create a car, which should be as "perfect" as ever possible. Knowing that Roumen Antonov is an engineer and inventor as well as a holder of a "Beaux Arts" diploma, the project can be easily qualified as solidly based. At the same time, the car with its "retro" style - very different to what exists on the market – has been combined with the most modern technologies as well as a perfect finishing. These elements should make of this car something very special and unique, just like a Work of Art. The car is the association of a tubular chassis, made by Roumen Antonov and his team, a fibre body, a material associating lightness and resistance, an interior of luxury material like leather, corresponding to the highest level of quality, the whole equipped with the most updated mechanical technologies, developed by major car builders. From a "product" point of view, this car will provide to its owner the pleasure to drive a different and unique car and at the same time – like a Work of Art – this rare car can be considered as a special collection. Nevertheless and with conserving its basic design, the car can be personalised in many ways as for example concerning the colours, the inside etc. Concerning the different engine powers available, a much pushier version with a supercharger is being studied. At the same time the homologation process has already been started. After this process, we do have today the confirmation, that the car will pass the "Euro IV" homologation without changing the design. The positive reaction on three major fairs with international public, the daily expressed interest by people reacting solely after having had a look on the web side, as well as the firmly expressed interest of several specialised distributors for this market and customers coming from France and other countries are more then encouraging.
