PRI Trade show.

Performance Racing Trade show.
In what will be the biggest week of the year for innovations in performance racing, The Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) will hold the SAE Motorsports Engineering Symposium November 29-30, 2005, the same week as the Performance Racing Industry Trade Show in Orlando! Held the two days prior to the opening of the PRI Trade Show, the Motorsports Symposium will explore the technology that drives performance in the world of motorsports today.

In addition to SAE Engineers, PRI Trade Show attendees and exhibitors are invited to attend the SAE conference. Comprised of 83,000 engineering members in 30 countries around the world, SAE is a leader in setting automotive engineering standards, in this their 100th year of existence. SAE has organized another edition of its popular SAE Motorsports Engineering Symposium, and is bringing it to the world’s largest racing trade show.

It will be held Tuesday and Wednesday the week of the PRI Trade Show, in meeting rooms inside the North/South Building of the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando. SAE Symposium organizers say it will feature the latest R&D and high level technical information, as well as industry leaders discussing current technologies and future directions for the racing industry.

The PRI Trade Show is the largest racing trade show in the world. Over 40,000 racing entrepreneurs will attend from 40 countries. There will be 1,400 companies exhibiting in 3,900 booths. The 18th Annual PRI Trade Show will be held December 1-3, 2005, in the North/South Building of the Orange County Convention Center. According to Tradeshow Week magazine, the PRI Trade Show is the 65th largest trade show in the US, and one of the 50 fastest growing trade shows in the country. Racing retailers, engine builders, car builders, warehouse distributors and professional race teams attend the PRI Trade Show each year to preview the latest advances in racing products and technology. They can make purchase decisions in December, then have new racing products in stock for the start of the 2006 racing season.

All SAE Symposium attendees will receive credentials for the PRI Trade Show. There is no charge to attend the PRI Trade Show.
This SAE event has proven itself as a valuable venue for product developers, race engineers, management, researchers, and entrepreneurs who need and seek networking opportunities and information from leading innovators. But whether you’re an experienced racing engineer or a racing entrepreneur looking to gain additional motorsports knowledge, SAE Symposium organizers say you’ll be glad you attended this informative symposium! A variety of technical sessions, panel discussions and keynote speakers will also be part of the event. Herb Fishel, CEO of The Business of Motorsports and former head of GM Racing, will be the keynote speaker at Tuesday’s luncheon.

Registration fees paid before November 11, 2005, are $350 for SAE Members and PRI exhibitors, and $450 for other non-members. After November 11, registration fees go up $100 to $450 and $550, respectively.

Another major event is coming to Orlando the week of the PRI Trade Show. At press time, it was announced that the 16th Annual Advanced Engineering Technology Conference will be held in Orlando on Monday through Wednesday, November 28-30, 2005. It will be held in the North/South Building of the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, which is the same building where the PRI Trade Show will be held December 1-3, 2005.

The conference has been traditionally held in Colorado Springs, Colorado, in January. Hundreds of race and performance engine builders attend the conference each year to hear expert speakers address a wide variety of subjects involving advanced race engine technology. In addition, the conference offers panel discussions and social gatherings.

“With the PRI Trade Show, the AETC and the SAE Motorsports Engineering Conference all being held the same week, in the same location in Orlando, it makes it easy, convenient and affordable for racing entrepreneurs and members of professional race teams to attend,” said Steve Lewis, producer of the PRI Trade Show. “For one week, Orlando is going to be the worldwide epicenter for cutting edge race technology and products.”

“Knowledge is power and there is no better place to get cutting-edge information than the Advanced Engine Technology Conference (AETC),” said Tammy Holland, of the AETC. “Give us three days and we'll give you more power secrets than you could find in months at the race track! If you would like the opportunity to discuss the solutions to some of your problems, this is the conference you cannot miss.
“During this event, you will have several opportunities to have one-on-one conversations with the leaders of our industry,” continued Holland. “You will surely walk away with more knowledge than you could ever imagine.”

In major late-breaking news, it was announced that the 16th Annual Advanced Engineering Technology Conference (AETC) will be held in Orlando the week of the 2005 PRI Trade Show. Popular among race and performance engine builders, the timing of this year’s AETC allows racing entrepreneurs to attend both events conveniently, with the cost of just one air fare.

In addition to expert speakers addressing a wide variety of subjects involving advanced race engine technology, the AETC also offers panel discussions and social gatherings. Stay tuned for more details, or visit the website.

Wheel2wheel sells Antonov dual speed supercharger.

There it is / Daar staat 'tie dan.
Ga naar: Wheel2Wheel/Antonov dual speed superchar W2W page.
The major limitation of centrifigual superchargers is low end boost. Antonov has addressed this situation, with a two speed supercharger drive. The drive creates a 1.36:1 input speed increase, which in turn increases the supercharger impeller speed. The charger is shifted out of gear, as a function of load and speed.
Combined Antonov Rotrex supercharger head units are available by special order. It will also be offered as an option on our I5 (Hummer H3, Colorado/Canyon supercharger systems)

October 24, 2006 Supercharged Hummer H3 to Debut at Las Vegas’s SEMA Show

So whats the big deal? There were numerous supercharged H3s at the SEMA show last year — what makes this one different? Well, this is the first two-speed super charger to be put in a high-performance car or SUV. The Hummer H3 will be displayed at Antonov’s (the manufacturer) booth inside the show. The real fun will be on the proving grounds where a similar system has been installed in a Ford Mustang GT. According to Antonov, the torque and power at the rear wheels of the GT is boosted 58% with the two-speed supercharger. And although they haven’t hooked the H3 up to any computers to test the output, they “confident of a similar performance boost for the Hummer.” Worlds fastest H3? I wouldn’t be surprised…

===================================================================

Anyone who has driven a Hummer H3 has commented on the lack of power. Even with a manual transmission, the acceleration leaves a lot to be desired. In an effort to resolve this concern, European automotive technology company, Antonov, will be showing its innovative 2-speed supercharger drive system at the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show next week in Las Vegas.

After mounting the unit on the power steering pump bracket of the I5, the supercharger is overdriven at 1.36 to 1 from off-idle to about 4200 rpm under hard acceleration, then mechanically steps down to a 1 to 1 ratio at higher RPM's. The higher speed of the supercharger impellor increases power and torque to the rear wheels by an impressive 58 percent at lower engine speeds changing the personality of the H3 dramatically.

Antonov is also researching other applications for its multi-speed mechanical drive systems. The smaller displacement hybrid engines could use some forced incduction as an economical means for more low end power. The Autoliv system can be designed as a 2, 3 or 4 speed unit allowing the supercharger to be tuned to the specific needs and calibrations of the powertrain application.

This really sounds like a cool technonlogy, and one the H3 certainly screams for. Hot rodders have been switching to smaller supercharger pulleys to achieve this affect for years, but at higher RPMs there was always a chance of overspeeding the supercharger and causing heat-related issues with the rotor seals. Wouldn't it be great to set the boost level of your engine based on RPM; even better, if it were switchable from inside the car? In a Mustang GT application, Autonov was able to "hide" the compact supercharger/drive unit under the intake manifold. Reminds me of the NOS bottle hidden inside the heater core box with jets plumbed under the intake manifold of my '68 Camaro. Could this the newest trend in "secret" perfomance mods?
