Wel zijn veel technische mensen van Powertrain ltd. ovegestapt naar SAIC (of waren voor een tijd in dienst van SAIC). Wel kan het zo zijn dat deze technische mensen van Powertrain ltd. SAIC hebben geattendeerd op de Antonov Automatische Transmissie technology. SAIC produceert momenteel de Chinese versie van de MG Rover 75.

In de tijd dat MG Rover nog niet falliet was waren er vergaande plannen op de MG Rover 75 te voorzien van een Antonov DCA (Dual Clutch Antonov).

De Rover StreetWise en de City Rover zouden de AAD six speed krijgen. (Er rijdt nog steeds een MG Rover StreetWise rond met een AAD six speed als demo auto voor klanten). Dus wie weet of er nog iets zal komen!!!! Historie zie hieronder.

LONDON (AP) - Collapsed British car company MG Rover accidentally sold its main asset, the MG TF sports car, to China's state-owned Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp. last year, the Financial Times reported Saturday.
Rover filed for bankruptcy in April after talks with SAIC about a joint venture broke down.
Earlier this month, MG Rover administrators said the company had few assets and there was little money left to pay creditors. They said they were preparing to sell MG Rover's assets, but warned those were limited and creditors would likely see "nil or negligible" return on debts.
Almost all the 6,100 workers at the car maker's Longbridge factory in central England were laid off. Thousand of workers at suppliers also were affected.
SAIC paid about $123 million US for the rights to most of the Rover range of cars and engines last year, the newspaper said. The paper said the TF sports car and the low-volume SV supercar were supposed to be excluded from the deal.
But, citing the British Patent Officer register of designs, the newspaper reported that ownership of the TF was transferred to SAIC in September. The paper said SAIC was listed as the owner in last week's update of the register.
PricewaterhouseCoopers, the administrator trying to sell the TF with the MG brand, declined Saturday to comment on the newspaper report.
The report quoted the Patent Office as saying the entry in the register was proof of ownership of a design. Any reversal of the transfer would require permission from SAIC, now the legal owners. The paper said SAIC refused to comment on its new asset but said it was investigating the situation.
The TF and the SV were the only cars left in the MG Rover stable over which SAIC had not been claiming intellectual property rights, apparently because it believed there was no market for them in China, the newspaper said.
The design transfer, apparently by mistake, has now thrown any sale of MG Rover into confusion, the newspaper said.
The bidding process gives selected applicants until Wednesday to submit their final proposals.

Rover 'sold key asset by accident'
Administrators organising the sale of MG Rover have refused to comment on claims the collapsed car giant sold one of its key assets - the MG TF sports car - to the Chinese firm SAIC by accident.
PricewaterhouseCoopers has been trying to sell the TF with the MG brand in a bidding process which gives selected applicants until next Wednesday to submit their final proposals.
The Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation reportedly paid £67 million for the intellectual property rights to a range of Rover cars and engines last year.
The TF and SV models were not thought to have been included in this deal because there was no market for such cars in China.
According to a report in the Financial Times, the Patent Office register of designs shows ownership of the TF was transferred to SAIC in September 2004.
And the Chinese firm is said to be listed as the owner in an updated version of the register last week.

A Patent Office spokesman told the newspaper any attempt to reverse the situation would require permission from SAIC as the legal owners

Rover 75 wordt SAIC: zie Autoweek

De Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation (SAIC), dat in april op het laatste moment afzag van de overname van MG Rover, neemt eind 2006 in China een op de Rover 75 gebaseerde sedan in productie.

Dat is mogelijk omdat SAIC de zogenaamde ’intellectuele eigendomsrechten’ van de Rover 25 en 75 heeft bemachtigd, evenals die van tien MG Rover-motoren. De ’opgewarmde’ Rover 75 wordt het eerste model dat SAIC-logo’s opgeplakt krijgt, momenteel bouwen de Chinezen auto’s in opdracht van General Motors en Volkswagen. Voormalige MG Rover-medewerkers, waaronder veel technici, gaan SAIC helpen om de Rover 75 aan te passen op de wensen van de Chinese markt. Zo moet de ophanging worden verstevigd om de slechte Chinese wegen te kunnen trotseren. De ex-medewerkers blijven overigens wel gewoon in Engeland werken.
